In Pastor Moses’ books, it’s not what you say, but how well you say it that counts…

Pastor Moses just can’t understand his friend John… how can he not be excited about this week’s guest preacher? Sure the guest speaker may not mention anything about Jesus and his finished work upon the cross…but he’s an amazing public speaker!… Isn’t that enough?

Once, having been asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God would come, Jesus replied, “The kingdom of God does not come with your careful observation, nor will people say, ‘Here it is,’ or ‘There it is,’ because the kingdom of God is within you. Luke 17:20-21

You foolish Galatians! Who has bewitched you? Before your very eyes Jesus Christ was clearly portrayed as crucified. I would like to learn just one thing from you: Did you receive the Spirit by observing the law, or by believing what you heard? Are you so foolish? After beginning with the Spirit, are you now trying to attain your goal by human effort? Have you suffered so much for nothing—if it really was for nothing? Does God give you his Spirit and work miracles among you because you observe the law, or because you believe what you heard? Galatians 3:1-5
John’s question to Pastor Moses is a simple one: Does God bless us and provide for us because we observe the law of tithing, or because we have believed what we heard about Christ and him crucified?
He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things? Romans 8:32
Introducing a new character: Bobby the church car park volunteer
John believes serving God is through believing in the greatness of Jesus and allowing that to be the centre of his life… Bobby only knows of one way to serve God, and that is during the Sunday morning church service.
Let’s hope John has some success in helping Bobby get a revelation of the greatness of Jesus… at the moment Bobby is content with just being a great car park volunteer.

Eric has recently heard yet another of Pastor Moses’ messages on being an ‘armor-bearer’ and serving a spiritual leader…. It’s funny that the armor-bearer in the actual story from the Bible is an amazing warrior, literally putting his life on the line for Jonathan, but Pastor Moses just wants Eric to be willing to clean the toilets for him!
Special thanks to my friend Jutta for the ‘armor-bearer’ idea
Below is the armor-bearer scripture the comic is referring to for those interested:
1 Samuel 14:6-7
“Jonathan said to his young armor-bearer, “Come, let’s go over to the outpost of those uncircumcised fellows. Perhaps the LORD will act in our behalf. Nothing can hinder the LORD from saving, whether by many or by few.” “Do all that you have in mind,” his armor-bearer said. “Go ahead; I am with you heart and soul.”
Wth Pastor Moses away at a Pastor’s conference, it gives me an opportunity to introduce Eric the volunteer, but he’s not just any volunteer….he’s part of the key team! Wow….how impressive… he’s the kind of volunteer all the other normal volunteers look up in awe and amazement.
Eric is basically spending his entire free time volunteering at the church, but that’s ok because one day he is going to be someone really important in the church! (At the moment he’s still working on his character)
Eric will also be in Wednesday and Friday’s comic, so stay tuned.
