Busyness

Wth Pastor Moses away at a Pastor’s conference, it gives me an opportunity to introduce Eric the volunteer, but he’s not  just any volunteer….he’s part of the key team! Wow….how impressive… he’s the kind of volunteer all the other normal volunteers look up in awe and amazement.

Eric is basically spending his entire free time volunteering at the church, but that’s ok because one day he is going to be someone really important in the church! (At the moment he’s still working on his character)

Eric will also be in Wednesday and Friday’s comic, so stay tuned.

Living In Jesus

Pastor Moses likes to go to ‘pastor’s confrences’ as much as possible, in a moment of honesty we find him confessing to John his real motivation… I must admit, I feel like a holiday too!

So next week Pastor Moses will be at a pastor’s confrence, that means i’ll be introducing a few new characters in all of next week’s comics! I’m excited :-)

Twisting Scripture

Poor old Pastor Moses will use any scripture to try to prove to his church members that they are still obligated to tithe… hmmmm

For those who are interested, the Bible verse John is quoting in the first panel is 2 Corinthians 1:20 – what an amazing reality!! The good news that Jesus has done everything on our behalf, so that now God can freely bless us apart from our works, performance or religious activities – and we simply say ‘Amen’ and that is what gives God glory!

Gosh the gospel is goooood :-)

Fake It Till God Gets Here

OK, I’m really excited to introduce not one, but two new characters!

Introducing ‘Liz the Service co-ordinator’ and her faithful assistant ‘Jessica

When I started this comic a few weeks ago I was quite content to just have the 2 main characters, but I must say a whole world is being created now! It’s a lot of fun, and my arm really hurts from all the drawing I’m doing, but it’s all worth it. Thanks to everyone for your encouragement and feedback so far (keep it coming!)

Some other characters you can look forward to seeing soon:

Bobby the car park volunteer

Steve the Elder

Aaron the assistant pastor

Jackie the worship leader

Simon the volunteer (but he’s part of the key team!)

Pastor Moses’ wife…and i’m also in the middle of creating Johnny (Pastor Moses’ Kid)

If you have any other character ideas please let me know!

(I also just added the share/save tab below, if you enjoy the comic and want to share it with your friends on facebook or other places on the web you can use it, it’s pretty easy and good fun! Oh and I’ve also just created a facebook page for the comic, so please join!! Thanks again for your support!)

Well Trained Leader

hmmmmm…….

Christian Leadership

If you walk into any Christian bookshop today you will find an abundance of books written by pastors on Christian leadership or Christian living…but try to find a book that a pastor has written that simply boasts in the person of Jesus and the amazing reality of his perfect finished work… It’s like searching for a neddle in a haystack!

Praying For The Church

Introducing Pastor Moses’ wife!!

I find Pastor Moses way to funny a character not to give him a wife, as I’m sure it will give me plenty of opportunities to create some funny gags.

I spent some time today creating her, but as you can see she is not actually in the frame of this strip…but i’ll make sure she makes it into the next one.

If anyone has any funny ‘Pastor’s wife’ stories please email me and maybe I can turn it into a funny joke of some kind.

Any feedback you might want to give me is really appreciated. You can just write in the comments section, or you can email me through the contact page.

Hebrew And Greek

Christ is the end of the law so that there may be righteousness for everyone who believes. Romans 10:4

What is the point of having an abundance of biblical knowledge if you don’t even understand the basic foundation of the gospel?

Preaching is not about making known how much information you know about the bible, it’s about making known the mystery of the gospel! It’s about boasting in the greatness of Christ and the glory of His perfect finished work!

Come on Pastor Moses, we don’t want to hear it in Hebrew or Greek, we want to hear it in plain English :-)

Church Orientation

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” (Matthew 11:28)

You have to love the good news of Jesus Christ. Through His perfect finished work upon the cross, we now enjoy the blessings of a relationship with God that does not depend on our religious performance, but upon His glorious grace!!

Unfortunately Pastor Moses (one of the characters in my comic strip) seems to have missed that point!

Church Growth Guru

What is with all these ‘church growth’ books and ‘church growth gurus’ out there? They give pastors all the keys and principles you need in making your church program more appealing to people, but what about the message that is being preached?

What about the gospel that Paul declared is the only gospel? The gospel of God’s grace, that proclaims the greatness of Christ and his finished work?

Where is the gospel of God’s grace that makes it clear to Christians that they are not under the Old Covenant and are free from religious obligations?

Where is the gospel that makes clear the mystery of God, that there is now  a righteousness from God for all who believe, apart from Law?

Where is the gospel that tells Christians who they truly are? The beloved of God, holy and blameless in His eyes, new creations that no longer have the ‘sinful nature’ of Adam, but now have the  ‘righteous nature’ of Jesus, for He is our righteousness and he lives in us all!!!

I pray that every pastor would not focus on changing the external things, but look inward to what they truly believe, and ask the Lord to reveal to them a greater revelation of the gospel that Paul preached. Come on pastors! You guys are the ones who are meant to be leading us all into FREEDOM!
