Balancing The Books For 2010
Now that 2010 is coming to an end, it is time for Pastor Moses to start throwing around big numbers about all the great things he has accomplished; John is a little confused, as the numbers just don’t seem to be adding up (where did such a large statistic come from anyway?). In fact, for some reason, the books never seem to balance at year’s end. Strange how that seems to happen year after year.
The ‘Real’ Santa Claus

The rest of the world believes in a strange man with such a big ego that he believes he alone is the gift giver; the one with mysterious powers to give gifts to those who have worked hard all year to deserve them. Eric can’t believe people would be so silly as to believe in Santa Claus.
Eric also looks forward to receiving some gifts for all the good work he has done throughout the year, but he knows who the real Santa Claus is. He even tries to give him a little present each Christmas to remind him that he’s been a good boy. But, who does Eric believe the gift giver is?
Christmas Church Service Obligations
Eric is excited that this year Pastor Moses has pushed his leadership team even harder, and they are now running 15 Christmas church services! John however, isn’t so amazed at this. In fact, he has decided not to attend any service. He’s chosen to celebrate and spend time with his loved ones; sharing and enjoying the love of Jesus with family and friends.
Eric is, well, shocked. If John doesn’t go to church, even at Christmas, is he even really a Christian? Isn’t it the number one Christian obligation??
The Reason for The Season
Eric is sick of hearing all this ‘X‘mas talk. He doesn’t want to remove the real reason for this season, and so he’s proud to proclaim what this time of year is all about… but, is that really what the ‘X‘ stands for though? Well, according to Eric it is; yes this time of the year is all about church services!
Unrested
Ever since John told Pastor Moses that Jesus encouraged us to look at the birds as an example in life, Pastor Moses has held a grudge against them. Sure they look like they are at peace and rested, but don’t they know that’s not the gospel message?
No, according to Pastor Moses the gospel is a message of unrest. It’s about doing, doing, doing; and he’s convinced he’s not doing enough, and neither is his church members… in fact, he even thinks Jesus isn’t doing enough!
John wishes his pastor would really learn from the birds, and rest.
“Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?” Matthew 6:26
God’s Focus?

Pastor Moses is so concerned with God’s focus, that he wants to make sure it is crystal clear to his church members by talking about it all the time; that would be an amazing thing, if he actually knew what God’s focus is.
He seems a little confused about the whole thing really.
Thinking?

Luke has concluded that Jesus never said ‘open up your hand and I’ll get someone else to place truth in it, without you having to do anything‘, he said, ‘all who seek, will find‘ and ‘the Holy Spirit will lead you into all truth.’
Unfortunately, Eric is happy not to seek for any answers, or even think about what he believes. No, his senior pastor is more than capable of doing all the thinking for him; that’s what he’s is paid to do, right? Luke thinks there is something very wrong with that actually.
