Reflecting On Easter

Both John and Pastor Moses have been reflecting on the Easter weekend; but not on the same thing, or so it seems.

Easter

We all love Easter time. It’s a time to remember the wonderful person of Jesus, our savior. We can remember his life, death, resurrection and the new creation life he has now given to all of us who are in him…. Oh yes, and lots of people will also attend Pastor Moses‘ church service as well :-) Exciting times!

The standard weekly message

John thinks it’s very simple what should be preached every week. Pastor Moses agrees, but unfortunately he has a different perspective on what that standard weekly message should actually be.

The Entertainer

Pastor Moses just doesn’t get John; doesn’t John realise that Pastor Moses is the funniest, most entertaining preacher in the city? Luckly for him, the majority of his congregation are happy to sit down and enjoy his entertainment. Boy, he would really be in trouble if everyone wanted something more than a few laughs on a Sunday.

The Most Important Place

Pastor Moses has put such an emphasis on the importance of attending the Sunday service that he has somehow caused Eric to confuse Jesus with a program; oh dear.

Lucky God Is Your Father

John is happy he knows who his true Father is, and that his fatherly advice is to rest in the truth that his name has been written in the book of life. John knows he already someone great. He is a child of God.

John simply believes that God’s children are already famous in heaven, they don’t have to work to make a name for themselves in the world.

A Good Question

Bobby seems to be somewhat confused. He really liked hearing John talk about empowerment of Jesus and how he has been made radically awake in Him; but why then does Jesus not give Bobby enough power to keep his eyes open in the church service?

The Master

For some strange reason, Eric is actually proud to be called a ‘law man’. It’s as if he thinks that makes him someone who is obedient to God, but as John pointed out to him, the bible says quite the opposite. It seems Eric also has some issues as to who  his true master is.

For sin shall not be your master, because you are not under law, but under grace. Romans 6:14

The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. 1 Corinthians 15:56

Sidestepping The Issue

John just wants his pastor to answer his question regarding law and grace… However, Pastor Moses doesn’t seem to be willing to answer John’s question for him anytime soon.

Home

John sometimes wonders if Pastor Moses even hears what he is saying? It seems that no matter what John talks to him about, Pastor Moses automatically interprets it in a way that puts the focus back on church attendance and the supreme importance of the church service.

John just wants to enjoy the glorious reality of God’s grace without his pastor instantly switching the topic onto God’s obligations.
