Religious Services
Pastor Moses doesn’t really have a problem with John’s current thoughts about church life, and how it seems more new covenant to be somehow more organic/relational as a community, rather than a planned and structured organisation with religious service based events.
He can even admit that the way they are ‘running’ church seems to copy, so a certain extent, a lot of the patterns of the old covenant temple/synagogue model. But he has also realised that religious services make life easy when it comes to collecting money/donations, as people seem to just click into the religious mindset and see it as somewhat normal.
However, trying to collect money/donations, week after week, in a more natural, relational setting is just plain weird; and with no offerings coming in that means no full-time pastoral staff, and that’s, at the heart of the matter, is the biggest problem Pastor Moses could ever imagine.
‘A’ Pastor, Or ‘My’ Pastor?

Ericis convinced it is totally normal, and expected even, that he have a ‘personal’ pastor, one that he give the title ‘my’ pastor. But Luke wonders why he finds this completely acceptable, and even commendable, but all the other ministers in the famous five-fold ministry scripture should not be thought of as a ‘personal’ minster, in fact to do so would just be straight out weird and cult like.
In fact, the author of Hebrews tells us that Jesus is ‘our’ Apostle, and Jesus himself told us that he is ‘our’ teacher (in fact, in this scripture Jesus specifically states that none of us should be ranked above another by a special title, because we are all brothers.)
Luke understand many are called to be pastors, and teachers, and prophets, and evangelists and apostles, and we can all relate and benefit from their friendship and gifting as ‘a’ pastor, but should anyone besides Jesus really be ‘our’ pastor?
The Backsliders’ Pastor

Luke left Pastor Moses’ church about a year ago now, and after a lot of rejection from other church members and spending a lot of time walking with God outside of organised Christian religion, he’s come to think that the reason Pastor Moses never lived up the expectation and responsibility of being a caring, loving and personally involved pastor, is because it was actually never his Job. Luke has come to realise that Jesus truly is his pastor, and indeed he is the most wonderful, faithful and caring pastor he could ever have.
Eric of course, isn’t interested in Luke’s honest journey with God over the past year, or how he came to understand that Jesus is his pastor; he just thinks it’s all a cheap cope out; something that only a backslider would ever say. But is that really the case?
Getting The Job Done
No job is considered hard in Pastor Moses‘ mind… He has a way of making every job ‘easy’
(Note From Mick: It’s worth checking out these two other comics to understand this comic even better. The first is ‘Works Thankfulness‘ and the second is ‘The Double Minded Man‘, today’s comic is the third installment, kind of like the star wars trillogy, but only funnier

Almost Everything

…It seems OK to think of Jesus as the King of kings and the Lord of lords, the creator of the universe is also perfectly fine. Jesus can be the healer and saviour; Jesus can be everything… well, except someones pastor that is. At least, that is, according to Pastor Moses, who seems quite happy with that situation.
John is sure he read in the bible that Jesus also called himself the good pastor thought…
The Double-Minded Man

Pastor Moses loves to preach about the need for his flock not to be ‘double-minded’ in what they do… little do most of them know just how double minded Pastor Moses actually is, just ask his slave armor-bearer Eric.
(So, this comic is more related to me than Pastor Moses, as you can see about a month ago I switched my design over and the comic related to the big change was also with Eric working to the bone to finish it on time. After some trial and error for a month I think simple is better, and I’ll be looking at more ways to keep it easy to read the comics as well as my other writing/preaching etc. Anyway, if you’re reading this, please write something in the comment to encourage me, as I really need some today
Thanks all! ~ Mick)
The Moral Police

Eric has taken it upon himself to be the chief of the moral police within the church. Yep, he has his spiritual eye on everyone, and secretly boasts that he can ‘smell’ when someone is doing, or even thinking, something immoral. Oh, and if someone doesn’t acknowledge and submit to his judgements, then obviously it is because they are terrible, terrible sinners.
John on the other hand thinks Eric is just plain nuts.
Losing It
Sue has been trying her hardest to fit the mould and accept that she is the one with the problem and not other people, and she has been going out of her way to try and make her relationship with other church members real and meaniful; but, it just doesn’t seem to be working, and it’s possible that she is, well, losing it.
Now, whose fault is that? Of course, if you were to ask Pastor Moses, it would naturally be Jane’s fault, oh, ah, I mean… ummm, errr… what’s her name again?
