On Cue

Click Comic To Enlarge

Eric is learning how to perform all his spiritual obligations on cue… but John wonders if the Christian life is really all about being able to ‘perform‘ at the drop of a hat, or is it more do do with being led, and moved, by the Spirit?

Eric seems to be happy to discipline his flesh to just do it when he, or Pastor Moses, decide it’s time… If only it was so easy to ‘perform‘ when he goes to the bathroom (constipation is a terrible thing; poor Eric)- oh well, keep practicing Eric.

Focus

There is something that makes John’s heart rejoice. There is something else that makes Pastor Moses’ heart rejoice. It’s all a matter of personal focus I guess.

Works

Eric loves to pull out the same scripture again and again to try to prove that John’s confidence in the finished work of Jesus by faith is not actually enough – the only problem is Eric doesn’t seem to know just how many works are considered enough to make his faith live, and because of that he ends up filling his whole life up with the pursuit of good works – but what about your faith Eric?

If faith without works is dead, then we better listen to how Jesus described the work of God we are to do: Jesus answered, “The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has sent.” John 6:29

Spiritual Covering

Pastor Moses seems to believe that coming under his ‘spiritual covering’ is the only option for John. In fact, it seems even Jesus doesn’t have the ability to cover John completely. According to Pastor Moses, he has the one, and only, umbrella.

So, no pressure, but do you want to be covered?

Follow Him

Eric genuinely doesn’t seem to realise that he spends about 90% of his time telling people how amazing his pastor is, and it seems that when he does talk about Jesus it is only to highlight, in some way or another, another amazing aspect of Pastor Moses and his ever expanding vision. John, as usual, is sadly unimpressed.

Chinese Whispers

…It seems that the idea that every Christian can be led directly by the Spirit is not a popular theology in Pastor Moses’ church; in fact it seems that Pastor Moses is the only one allowed to hear from God directly, and everyone else needs to be led by him (and his vision, of course) with the idea being that, by submitting to the hierarchy of church leadership, in the end everyone will still be led by the Spirit… Hmmm, it doesn’t seem to have worked out that well for Jessica and Bobby though.

(Note from Mick: This comic was inspired by a very funny joke out of the simpsons, you can watch it below if you like.)

Boasting In…?

Therefore, as it is written: “Let him who boasts boast in the Lord.1 Corinthians 1:31

Something doesn’t seem right to John; it seems Pastor Moses finds his boast in…. well, himself actually. Strange days indeed.

Follow Me…

John thinks that Biblical leadership is importand and valid in the body of Christ, but something seems a little dodgy regarding Pastor Moses ultimate agenda…. hmmm

‘Follow me, as I follow Christ’ sounds more like the gospel to John

Secret Identity?

After watching the movie ‘Superman’ and seeing how Clark Kent was actually one and the same person as Superman, Eric found himself making some strange comparisons of his own…

Personal Ministry

Pastor Moses believes everyone in his church has a personal ministry. Amazingly, each one is somehow tied into them becoming his servant; what a peculiar coincidence.
