John can’t help but think that if the gospel of God’s grace is proclaimed passionately and without mixture with the Old Covenant, the result will be salvation for the whole world!
Unfortunately Pastor Moses thinks that is a very foolish thing to believe, as none of the church growth guru’s ever mention such a thing in any of their books!

For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. 1 Corinthians 1:18
John is sure he read in his Bible this morning that the work of a Christian is to believe in Jesus… but Pastor Moses is equally convinced that Jesus said the work of God is to believe in building an amazing church service… OK, someone is confused here.
John 6:28-29 Then they asked Jesus, “What must we do to do the works God requires?” Jesus answered, “The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has sent.”
John believes the best part about becoming an Apostle would be the joy of proclaiming the perfect finished work of Jesus. Eric believes the best part about becoming an Apostle is the knowledge he will never have to clean another church toilet again.

Pastor Moses just can’t understand his friend John… how can he not be excited about this week’s guest preacher? Sure the guest speaker may not mention anything about Jesus and his finished work upon the cross…but he’s an amazing public speaker!… Isn’t that enough?

John’s question to Pastor Moses is a simple one: Does God bless us and provide for us because we observe the law of tithing, or because we have believed what we heard about Christ and him crucified?
He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things? Romans 8:32
