Circumcision And Tithing
John is having a tough time trying to figure out why Pastor Moses is so convinced tithing is part of the new covenant, but circumcision is not. Aren’t they both religious obligations from the old covenant? Can we break the law up into pieces and take some of it into the new covenant and leave the rest in the old, or did Jesus fulfill every old covenant obligation on our behalf, so we could now live in a new covenant of grace?
Pastor Moses doesn’t see what Johns problem is. He thinks tithing is great.

Mick, I absolutely love the simplicity with which you tell the truth. Keep it up mate, there are many people out there who needs to hear this. May Father God open hearts and minds reading these messages to understand the revelation of grace.

While tithing is not "Law" for us now, Jesus was also smart enough to know that where our money is, there our hearts would be also — thus when He made comments like "give to Caesar that which is Caesar's, and to God that which is God's", He was attempting to remind us that we're gonna give our money to things regardless, so be careful (and thoughtful!) as to where we give it!
Money given to the things to God and the work of God isn't a "legal obligation", however a heart that is in love with the Lord and getting His Gospel out to the world will not be content with NOT using (and giving) their resources toward that end. So many people are sitting in the "grace, grace!" position of "I don't HAVE to give any tithes!" that their home fellowships are trying to get the gospel out on budgets that make even the California Teacher's Association laugh.
In short, rather than looking at Jesus' miracle of the "five loaves and two small fish" as something He did as the "exception" and not the "norm", they let their cash rule their hearts and expect Him to "replay that miracle every Sunday". Perhaps this is why He has allowed the economic hardships He has these days, to let people see where exactly their hearts are at in regards to mammon.

Thank the Lord for Paul! If it wasn't for Galatians I would have battled for an argument against the "well Abraham tithed before the Law" argument. Yip he was also circumcised before the Law.
mick
I agree Jason, Paul preached the gospel in it's fullness, and left us his letters to help us carry on proclaiming it!

Neither circumcision nor tithing is painful to us because “It is finished” on the cross!
