Religious Obligations

Pastor Moses often talks about how Christianity is not a religion, but John is a little confused. It seems Pastor Moses likes to the idea of Christianity not being a religion, but he’s still preaching about religious obligations every week?

Dang this is like the biggest thing that followers of Christ are facing right now… there is so much politics in the church system and honestly i believe it is one of the main factors that drive people away from seeking out the love of christ…

    "BUT God…"

Looking forward to the next comic strip on this topic Mick.

Oh and I will definitely get these books by Frank Viola!

I truly love the word 'but' because it is wholly a condition on God's part and goes something like this most of the time………………."BUT God who is rich in mercy"!

I'm going to have to do a comic on 'but' haha, it's quite the discussion point at the moment ;-)

    Hi Mick

I like your cartoons as they reflect the reality we all experience in church life. Just to add that everyone of us were like Ps Moses before we came to understand the finished work of Christ.

Some suggestions for your future cartoons – I wonder how Ps Moses children, other leaders… are like??, how Ps Moses relate to other grace churches.

      Hi Rejoice,
I love your suggestions, and will definitely put some focus on other characters and 'leaders' in the church in future comics. Glad you're enjoying the comics so far :-)

Its great when we submit to leaders (and other Christians). However, it is not great when we are told by the leaders to submit to them because it is a scriptural requirement.

I'm not sure anyone even knows what it means to 'submit' to spiritual leaders these days… It's usually twisted to mean 'just do whatever task I ask you to do'

It's a crying shame whem pastors could be preaching about the 'head' but insead they're always talking about the 'but'

sometimes i feel a "but" still lingering in my head, thank you jesus for no "buts"

Dejavu. is there a way of preaching the love of God without adding the word "BUT". I mean HE loved us, HE gave his only son, all we do is recieve BUT…. you have to do this and do that.

Dear Yannick, Thanks for the remarks. I believe Meg would agree with me on this… we Indeed know who we are in Christ and where we come in… one word only: "HIM". The point of my last remark was how much the church can be deceived thinking that the relationship is between God and the Son and the Holy Spirit instead of Christ and us only.

When I first read Meg remark, I thought some clarification is needed but the Spirit told me everything is well and so be it. We are indeed so so so….. blessed to have known HIM. In Him we are completed! The world can't tell but we can because by the fruits we shall know the tree. Amen.

@meg and @yaso: where do you come in… YOU ARE IN CHRIST. that's the mystery that Paul tried to reveal all the time. and because you are in him and actually (not metaphorically) his body here on earth, you are him! (For scripture support read the incredible book: 'From Eternity to Here by Frank Viola). Also we are Christ's bride! The Bible never talks about trinity. We will be partakers in the divine.. just as Eve was taken from Adam, the church is taken from the side of her Lord. Us. We are co-heirs and will be reigning with him. Jesus, gives hints by saying that all are gods… and the self-denying nature of the Lord will let us be God with him for eternity. Isn't that great! Now, that doesn't mean you can behave like a worldy king in this world, because the true nature of the true King has been revealed to us. – Jesus – Let us therefore align to this very same nature he has given us. The very things mentioned in the video here on the right. Love ultimately. Hallelujah!

Isn't that so true? How many times have we heard pastors say, "We're not religious". But then they reel-off a list of rules, or "keys" as they call them. Arrrggghh! Thanks brother Mick for exposing this religious practice to the world.

  14. Meg September 26, 2009 at 1:16 am #

And…oh gosh yaso, you're probably like, ok well then where do i come in?

  15. Meg September 26, 2009 at 1:13 am #

Amen! Christianity is truly man living as God intended man to live- one with the Lord!

  16. yaso September 25, 2009 at 6:36 am #

Ya… Preach it Brothers!!! Once a brother said to me that Christianity is a relationship and not a religion. And so I thought he must have known Grace and I asked what's that relationship? He replied: "It is the relationship between God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit and that's why we pray in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit and say amen". How much Grace is that??? :)

    Hi Mick,

We are living in a different part of the world, of different social back ground and brought up in a different culture. Hey, I tell you what, we had gone through the SAME Christian walk! I'm so convinced that the same religious spirit is influencing the world. If we are not of GRACE, we are of the work…, if we are not of FAITH, we are of the Law, if we are not of the SPIRIT, we are of flesh…

    Preach it Brother!!!!
