Pastor Moses simply cannot understand why John thinks the Law of Moses can’t be mixed together with the Spirit of God as our guide in life.
.
A group of Epicurean and Stoic philosophers began to dispute with him. Some of them asked, “What is this babbler trying to say?” Others remarked, “He seems to be advocating foreign gods.” They said this because Paul was preaching the good news about Jesus and the resurrection. Acts 17:18

Isn't the new covenant with Israel? Hbr 8:8 For finding fault with them, he saith, Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah:
We as the Body of Christ are a new creation, not an extension of Israel. We as gentiles were not under the covenants of promise. Eph 2:12 That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world:
please don’t stop at Eph 2:12…finish the chapter…You have been brought nigh!! AMen!
Thank you Mick for your answer. Please don't get me wrong… salvation is only by the New Covenant and i don't disregard that. What i meant was if it is God's will to save all and non perished, why can't we be in one spirit and believe that? That all shall come to receive Christ. I know this is one thing not many will want to think about even those from our church who embraced Grace. May be is because of the things we don't understand as you'd said. Or something too big for us to undertake? But I believe we all should think about it and seek Him for an answer.
For we are saved by grace through faith and that part of faith is either we believe or not. If we are saved by grace alone, then my question is redundant because the whole world is saved. But no, the part of faith in us makes the diffidence. One might say that faith is solely an individual issue on the person to believe or not. But I still believe if I believed that person shall be saved he will be saved regardless of his rejection now. I truly want to thank that brother (Richard) who once said to me… "all will be saved" and that triggered my thought. I know we are quite out of the topic here and please forgive me and thank you so much for listening. Shalom!
It seems like the inevitable is about to happen. You can almost feel the tension building in the comic. The sad thing is that whatever John does in his service to the Church (the real Church) will be seen as "not part of the Church" by pastor Moses. This is because what John sees as been the Church is not what Pastor MOses sees. JOhn sees all believers as being in the Church, Pastor Moses only sees members of his church as been in the Church.
the tension builds…. what will happen next? (I don't even know that answer yet!)
Hi Mick, it is true that only in Christ we are saved… but deep in my heart, i believed God is so good and He has answered my prayer that my late father is saved. To my knowledge my late father was a Buddhist and had never received Christ to the point of his death BUT…. Jesus said "If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes." (Mar 9:23) and I believed that… though it was a past but God has no past and He has already saved my father!
My point is if I can believe my father is saved why can't i believe that everyone is saved. And since Heb 8:11 says they will all know Him, from the least of them to the greatest and verse 12 states that He will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more. Mick, I know God wants to save all and I want to believe and please help me to believe that. If we all can believe, all can be saved!!! Amen.
Yaso, I think most believers have experienced losing a loved one in the past whom we couldn't say with confidence if they had accepted the Lord before they departed. While I don't think we can create a universal salvation doctrine for all regardless of their faith in Christ, we can continue to put our trust in our loving Father who is the God of all grace. There is so much we don't know. Christ speaks to people in dreams and vision and in ways we can not understand. God is glorious, and above all he is graceful.
I think it mans that everyone who has enters into the New Covenant the Scriptures are talking about in Heb 8:11 will be saved.
Hi guys, Once a brother said to me that he believes all will be saved on referring to Heb 8:11. What do you say to that?
Hmmm… same old verse, Hebrews 8:11b ~ From the least of them to the greatest, they will all know Me!
Hi Mick and Ann, I don't know what is a Christianese? But I know it stated in Gal 3:10 For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse. Get out of it quick before the curse catch up on you!!
Rom 6:14 For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under law but under grace.
yup, we sould be so carefull not to blab on in Christinese that is goes over our dear friends' heads…
That’s true Ann, but you know I don’t think John is speaking Christianese in the above comic, He is simply trying to share the very basic truth of our New Covenant realationship with God and his own Pastor doesn’t understand what he is talking about!
LOL!
The Scripture is so abundantly clear, believers are dead to the law. (Romans 7:4 and Gal 2:19) so it introduces a measure of confusion to tell believers that what they are dead to is actually their rule of life. The letter kills, the Spirit gives life, Amen!
John 15:10 If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love. There is no doubt his laws ,commandments are spiritual .By His spirit we abide in his commandments
It is so hard for the flesh to trust and believe the Spirit of God. But once you believe, it is easy!
Awesome, Mick!
For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made us free from the law of sin and death. (Rom 8:2) Which law do you wish to follow? Law of life which leads to life, joy and peace or law of sin and death which lead to you know what? Your choice…
