Pastor Moses has to preach every week. Every week! Gosh, he feels like he has nothing left to say, so much so that he’s started being very ‘creative’ with his sermon illustrations. Some would call this ‘lying’, but Pastor Moses calls it: ‘simply changing a few details to protect the privacy of those involved’
Pastor Moses is always planning and working towards his ultimate goal: To build and pastor a mega-church. It’s because of this that he’s always twisting his sermons in any way that will help to make his great religious dream a reality.
John is obviously disturbed by this. Why can’t Pastor Moses just preach about the love of God simply because it’s so wonderful? Why does he always have to have a practical point? And why does every sermon end up being more about building the church than about Jesus anyway?
Most church members just clap and say ‘amen’ to whatever Pastor Moses teaches them. However, John isn’t afraid to challenge his pastor on theological points when he feels they contradict the truth of the gospel. Pastor Moses has a standard way of dealing such questions, but it’s not very beneficial to anyone… come on Pastor Moses, wake up!
