#37 Conforming To The Programmed Way Of Life
Conforming To The Programmed Way Of Life
During their last conversation John told Eric the say he serves God is by loving people. Eric actually thought this was just a joke! (see comic here) but after another week past Eric realised John needed another ‘nudge’ to get him active in doing God’s work, and that, to Eric, naturally only really takes place in a 90 minute time slot each Sunday Morning.

The ‘Christianese’ Prayer Meeting
After John declined Eric’s invitation to attend worship ‘practice’ night (see comic here) he felt he should accept his next invitation to attend a prayer meeting at the church. Eric love to pray, and is proud to call himself a prayer warrior, but he does have the habit of praying with the popular Christianese vocabulary, which, although sounds religiously awesome, doesn’t actually make any sense at all.

What Do You Love?
Although everyone loves in Pastor Moses’ church, it seems they are not all loving the same thing. John wants to keep his faith simple and rest in the grace of God. But Pastor Moses is more keen to preach his principles then he is God’s grace, with a knock on effect in his church to the point that young Bobby loves his pastor, his pastor’s principles, and everything about his pastor… but, who is that Jesus guy again? (see comic here)

#20. The Most Important Place

The Most Important Place.
John is trying to figure Eric out. He certainly seems passionate to serve Pastor Moses, going so far as to become his official armor-bearer (see comic here) but does he really think that the church program is on the same level of importance as Jesus himself?
It is shocking, but it seems like he may even think the church program is slightly better!
#17. Busyness

Busyness
Eric loves to boast about how much he serves Pastor Moses and his big vision. Yes, he is prepared to do whatever, whenever for his pastor. But John is a little concerned that if Eric is so busy with church administration stuff, when does he have time to spend with his family?
Being available to jump at every pastoral request, even if that means having no time for anyone else, may be the way Eric wants to outwork his faith, but it’s certainly not for John. But, will the ‘church culture’ and the pressure to conform into a Pastor Moses’ serving machine change John’s mind?

Called To The Nations
Eric feels he has a big religious career ahead of him; he is already serving his time volunteering practically day and night as one of Pastor Moses’ faithful ‘armor-bearers’ (see comic here) but that doesn’t stop him from fantasying about the glory of his future ministry opportunities. Yes, he is even praying for the nations; he heard this prayer from others so often and he has adopted it as his own. Yes, the nations! But, as Bobby pointed out, what exactly does Eric intend to do with not just one nation, but many nations? That’s a whole lot of people to do exactly what with? What do you want the nations for Eric?

Becoming Non-Existent
After news reached Eric that Luke decided to leave Pastor Moses’ church (see comic here) Eric has raced off to let Pastor Moses know. But what Eric hasn’t learned yet is that, according to Pastor Moses, as soon as anyone leaves his church they suddenly become non-existent. Yes, that’s right, as if they never existed in the first place. Is this Pastor Moses’ idea of reality?

Worship ‘Practice’ Night
Peggy the worship pastor recently introduced herself to John (see comic here) where she had to admit she didn’t really know what being a worship pastor really meant. But, one thing she does to fulfil her ‘church title’ as the worship pastor is to organise a weekly worship practice night. Eric tried to get John to join him, but John found the whole idea of ‘practicing’ worship very strange and politely declined the invitation. Meanwhile, Eric is practicing away, he’s pretty sure he’ll be a professional worshipper soon. He believes in the motto: practice makes perfect! Someone should warn Eric not too practice too much or his head might really explode!

The Modern Day Armor-Bearer
After Eric tried to get John straight into serving in a church ministry (see comic here) and seeing that John wasn’t prepared to jump straight into it, Eric decided he needed to inspire John to get involved by boasting about his ministry position. Yes, Eric is proud to be a modern day armor-bearer for Pastor Moses… but it seems that the modern armor-bearer has slightly different tasks than those of the Bible days.
