“Love, love, love. Jesus made prostitutes feel valued, outcasts feel accepted, the religiously condemned feel justified, the lost feel at home, the broken feel whole, the heavy burdened feel free, the thirsty feel refreshed. How did he do it? He did it by loving them.”
When Two Theologies Collide
Most church members just clap and say ‘amen’ to whatever Pastor Moses teaches them. However, John isn’t afraid to challenge his pastor on theological points when he feels they contradict the truth of the gospel. Pastor Moses has a standard way of dealing such questions, but it’s not very beneficial to anyone… come on Pastor Moses, wake up!
New People
So I have planned to update on Monday, Wednesday and Friday…but I just can’t help it, so I’m going to upload another comic today. I figure that you can be sure of a new comic Mon/Wed/Fri… but sometimes you might find a new comic on the other days if I feel particularly motivated.
OK, about this comic… I think this comic shows Pastor Moses at his worst, and the frustration of John at it’s most. Pastor Moses is so focused on the functionality of the church, that he almost always misses the point of it all. John just wants new people to hear about the greatness of Jesus and his finished work of the cross.
OK, hope it made you chuckle
The Beginning
So I have been sitting at my desk for the last few days working away on my comic, still unsure which comic I should upload first… and now I have 4 minutes left before the deadline, and I have decided with this one.
I figured since this is ‘the beginning’ of my comic strip and launch of my website, it is a good one to start with.
I was once listening to a preacher teach on Genesis one, and he talked about so many things, and used a lot of big words I didn’t understand, but nothing about Jesus. As I sat there I thought to myself ‘surely if Jesus is God’s eternal plan, and he is the centre of all things, we can preach about him not only from the beginning of the New Testament, but also from the beginning of the Old Testament’. So I asked God about it, and he answered by saying to me ‘Who is the beginning?’
It’s actually quite amazing, I always thought about the beginning as a moment in time, when actually it’s a person (pause, and think about it)
I hope you like the first edition of ‘Searching for grace’. Please comment and give your feedback. I will be updating with new comics every Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
Blue skies,
Mick
