Taking Spiritual Authority

John doesn’t serve in church, and Eric just can’t understand why. To Eric, allowing the Spirit to lead John to serve God outside the 1 hour religious church program on Sunday is just an impossibility.

Eric is convinced that anyone who doesn’t jump into to serving the church must be, to put it plainly, possessed by the bogey man of laziness… Hmmmm

Focus

There is something that makes John’s heart rejoice. There is something else that makes Pastor Moses’ heart rejoice. It’s all a matter of personal focus I guess.

Chinese Whispers

…It seems that the idea that every Christian can be led directly by the Spirit is not a popular theology in Pastor Moses’ church; in fact it seems that Pastor Moses is the only one allowed to hear from God directly, and everyone else needs to be led by him (and his vision, of course) with the idea being that, by submitting to the hierarchy of church leadership, in the end everyone will still be led by the Spirit… Hmmm, it doesn’t seem to have worked out that well for Jessica and Bobby though.

(Note from Mick: This comic was inspired by a very funny joke out of the simpsons, you can watch it below if you like.)

Personal Ministry

Pastor Moses believes everyone in his church has a personal ministry. Amazingly, each one is somehow tied into them becoming his servant; what a peculiar coincidence.

Highest Authority

Eric seems to be fully convinced that church is a one hour program on Sunday; John is convinced that church is something so much greater than a program, it is the body of Christ made up of all who have believed in Jesus. John believes the church is meant to function through loving and genuine relationships; Eric on the other hand believes the church is meant to function according to the service run sheet.

In the end, it comes down to listening to the highest authority to gain insight and truth; unfortunately, Eric’s highest authority seems to be Pastor Moses

Seeing The Hope Of Glory

Pastor Moses seems a little confused; he genuinely desires his church members to see more of Jesus, but he has pictures of himself hanging up everywhere you look in the church foyer?

Step Up

Pastor Moses doesn’t really care what John does to help run his church services and the associated programs that go along with it, so long as he just does something! You can’t just come to Church and enjoy meeting with your brothers and sisters John, you’ve got to do something!

A Powerful Testimony

Pastor Moses often tells some really powerful testimonies… but unfortunately he often plays Chinese whispers in his own head and ends up adding more to the story than actually happened.

He doesn’t seem to mind.

Where Are You Being Led?

The Spirit said he would lead us into all truth, but where is Pastor Moses leading his church members?

Church Orientation

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” (Matthew 11:28)

You have to love the good news of Jesus Christ. Through His perfect finished work upon the cross, we now enjoy the blessings of a relationship with God that does not depend on our religious performance, but upon His glorious grace!!

Unfortunately Pastor Moses (one of the characters in my comic strip) seems to have missed that point!
