Becoming Non-Existent

After news reached Eric that Luke decided to leave Pastor Moses’ church (see comic here) Eric has raced off to let Pastor Moses know. But what Eric hasn’t learned yet is that, according to Pastor Moses, as soon as anyone leaves his church they suddenly become non-existent. Yes, that’s right, as if they never existed in the first place. Is this Pastor Moses’ idea of reality?

My impression from this intelligently given comic is that the story is alligoric….

Well, I certainly hope Pastor Moses isn’t a real dude out there somewhere! :-)

oh, and if anyone brings them up, Pastor Moses will then say that they ‘have problems’, or have ‘backslidden’.

He doesn’t have to Mick. Pastor Moses just only treats those who regularly come to his church and keep the program as existing….the rest just vanish from his mind.

I thought it was one of his many spiritual gifts. The gift of de-existing? Nah… you’re idea sounds more likely :-)

Simple – did he ever really care about them? Caring implies effort and partaking in their well being – spiritually and physically – it seems as if Pastor Moses one has one care in the world – to build the ‘superchurch’ and thus reap all the accolades that may be bestowed upon him. Sad you see!

How does Pastor Moses manage to de-exist ex-church members?

It’s easy. Pastor Moses preaches the doctrine of isolation. If you attend Pastor Moses’s church and pay your tithes and give in offerings, you are one of God’s chosen ones. You are special because by giving to him you have become part of God’s last move on earth. When you leave Pastor Moses’s church, your money and the power you gave him over you no longer exists. You are now a liability instead of an asset. If “faithful members” of Pastor Moses’s church find out why you left they might take a closer look at what is happening around them. It serves Pastor Moses’s true motives and intentions to de-exist you. What Pastor Moses will say to justify this is, “If there be any good report, think on these things”.
