hopefully we’re asking to spread the gospel to the nations for God’s glory, not ours. that the Spirit motivates us and guides us to do God’s will. everything is the Lord’s and for His glory. many churches pray for more resources, hopefully for righteous intentions, not simply for more power or to make others in our image. (luke 12:48) says “From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked.” I believe this applies to worldly resources as well as spiritual gives, such as love, wisdom, peace and the fruits of the Spirit as well as gifts of the Spirit. if someone has $100, they should use that for noble purposes. if they have $100,000 they should also use that to promote God’s will. if a person buys hotdogs for the homeless with their $100 they have done good. if the person given $100,000 buys $100 worth of hotdogs for the homeless, and keeps $99,900 for themselves, goes to the casino, buys a big screen tv or spends on other pleasures and conveniences I believe they will be judged accordingly, and hopefully they have Jesus to intercede for them on that day.
Eric feels he has a big religious career ahead of him; he is already serving his time volunteering practically day and night as one of Pastor Moses’ faithful ‘armor-bearers’ but that doesn’t stop him from fantasying about the glory of his future ministry opportunities. Yes, he is even praying for the nations; he heard this prayer from others so often and he has adopted it as his own. Yes, the nations! But, as Bobby pointed out, what exactly does Eric intend to do with not just one nation, but many nations? That’s a whole lot of people to do exactly what with? What do you want the nations for Eric?
I’m pretty sure the “give me nations” prayer is intended for those who seek to spread the good news to nations who have not heard. . . Thus you pray, “God, give me nations.” Meaning: give me the means, resources, and knowledge to deliver your message to the nations who need it.
