Comment about the obedient heart – obedience to Christ is the greatest source of joy. For it is then that we find ourselves in the center of His will. The question though is how we get there and why. We can only get there by His Grace and Love. He calls us, we respond. He asks us to go, He provides the way and means. If we don’t respond in obedience we cannot claim we love Him. If we go but not out of love then our obedience is not out of relationship. When it is out of relationship, our obedience to His grace gives un inexplicable joy. When it then comes time to give, we want to give Him everything for He spared nothing for us. And fantastic comic.
Since Bobby started reading his Bible, he seems to become more and more confused at what his leaders in church are teaching him. He noticed how people like Eric love to boast about being a biblical Christian, and doing what the bible says, and how the bible is the ‘instruction book for Christians’, but then he seems to not really believe that at all, or at least he seems to feel it is fine to just ignore the Bible if it doesn’t fit into his theology.
Bobby thought it could have sometime to do with the Old Covenant and the New Covenant, but because Pastor Moses is convinced the Tithe is still part of the Christian life, that means he needs to say that some parts of the Old Covenant are still followed, but others are not and, well, it seems nobody actually knows what part is what… but don’t ask Eric about all this, he will just tell you to go and read, ironically, the Bible.
Ok so, are you saying that tithing is under the old covenant? If ao, I TOTALLY AGREE! SO many christians aren’t aware that we are supposed to give out of a cheerful heart, not an ‘obedient’ heart. Obediance is based on works which is putting yourself under alaw. I’ve heard it said: “Do good, get good. Do bad, get bad.” But thankfully GRACE IS UNDESERVED FAVOR! WAHOO!

This is great. I’m gonna share it on my Facebook page.

Nothing makes me smile like a cartoon about (bad) hermeneutics.
Isn’t this EXACTLY what a church that establishes the tithe but doesn’t handle the weightier matters (faith, mercy, judgment)look like!?
Great comic! Thanks!
Glad you enjoyed it Jeremy
Poor pastor Moses doesn’t realize that there is no such thing as a “Biblical Christian”. And how can he wrap his brain around such a concept?
one of the best comics yet.
