Paul was strong on sound doctrine, he told Timothy to “with gentleness (key) to correct those in opposition. To love someone is also to speak truth to them when they stay from sound doctrine, but I must say correction in love is a far cry from to just criticize them. I’m going by your title more than the cartoon as I’ve heard many in the “grace movement” decry anyone who tries and bring correction even godly correction.
I like your comics, but on this one I’d have to disagree. If Jack is an unsaved person then God really doesn’t know him like He knows you or I, we have Christ living in us while Jack is spiritually dead. And Jack (if he’s spiritually dead) does not want to seek God or communicate with Him, just as we didn’t want to until He drew us to himself.
Rom 1:28-32
And just as they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them over to a depraved mind, to do those things which are not proper,
being filled with all unrighteousness, wickedness, greed, evil; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, malice; they are gossips,
slanderers, haters of God, insolent, arrogant, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to parents,
without understanding, untrustworthy, unloving, unmerciful;
and although they know the ordinance of God, that those who practice such things are worthy of death, they not only do the same, but also give hearty approval to those who practice them.
The point of the comic was that Eric was making his own assumptions on whether his cousin knew God based on his own religious ideas. His own ideas are so ingrained in his mind that even if they are wrong, even if God tries to explain his thoughts about his cousin Jack are wrong, Eric still thinks he is right.

yeah, that’s what makes the comic funny (i hope) as Eric is trying to, with gentleness, correct God’s theology
Great one Mick. Just read an interesting post on Rob Bell and his new book – any comments, since this strip seems relevant.
Love it

Ok I understand now, thanks for the response.
