Sometimes it isn’t that pastors are like Pastor Moses, it’s that members of the congregation are like Eric. They are just happy that the pastor has done all the thinking, the Bible studying, the research, the working out and are able to present “The Truth” so clearly and concisely – just as the Pharisees did in Jesus’ day! It makes being a Christian so much easier whan all you have to do is agree with “The Expert” and follow what he says. (For a start, when you get to heaven, if God tells you you did things wrong, you will have somebody to pass the blame onto…..!)
Luke has concluded that Jesus never said ‘open up your hand and I’ll get someone else to place truth in it, without you having to do anything‘, he said, ‘all who seek, will find‘ and ‘the Holy Spirit will lead you into all truth.’
Unfortunately, Eric is happy not to seek for any answers, or even think about what he believes. No, his senior pastor is more than capable of doing all the thinking for him; that’s what he’s is paid to do, right? Luke thinks there is something very wrong with that, actually.
Hey Mick, I have really enjoyed your comics over the last year. The only thing that worries me sometimes is all the Pastors that are teaching people to think for themselves, to hear from God and to know that LOVE is the fruit the world will recognise.
Perhaps we are not being gracious to the men that do the work of God?

thanks for your comment. When I write/draw these comics, I’m not thinking of actual pastors, but rather I try to think about what ‘Pastor Moses’ would do/say etc. It really helps to read the comic as fiction. Although there certainly is some truth resonating in the comics, I’m really not trying to say all pastor’s are like Pastor Moses, in fact, I truly doubt there are any pastors like Pastor Moses, at least I hope!
