Sadly (but kinda funny) My son has experienced a conversation similar to this. My son is immersed in the New Covenant, and recently wanted to visit around to see if any taught the New Covenant. A friend of his caught wind of this, and invited my son to their church. It was a Baptist church. Our kids have grown up Pentecostal (before New Covenant) and had no clue what any other denomination believed–good or bad. So, my son asked this guy what did he believe? The guy replied their church was a Baptist Church. My son was like, ‘Okay, but what do you believe”? (My son had NO clue–he wasn’t being sarcastic) The guy told him, “Well, you know… the normal Baptist beliefs…” LOL
I’m curious what you mean by “the New Covenant.” I’ve always heard that to refer to the New Testament in general, something that even Baptists believe in. To what does “the New Covenant” mean in your part of the world?
Anything before the Cross was under the Old Covenant laws/rules/works made between God & Moses at Mt. Sinai. Anything after the Cross is under the New Covenant of GRACE made between God and His only Son Jesus who perfectly fulfilled EVERY single part of the old covenant and then nailed it to the Cross! The old covenant is the ministry of death while the new covenant is the ministry of LIFE!
